San Diego Convention Center Parking Facility

San Diego Convention Center Parking Facility – this 2000 vehicle cast in place parking garage on precast piles with precast spandrel panel exterior was the Port of San Diego’s first design build project. Winning the prestigious Design Build Institute of America National Design Build award, the team worked very closely with the Port to ensure the project design would not only work with the adjacent Convention Center, but with the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, which began construction years later. Guaranteeing the construction cost on not much more than a napkin the team worked to push the limits of the budget and design to meet the clients needs.

Site development included grading, paving, and underground utility infrastructure covering an area more than 8 acres in size. Off-site public improvements were also included for more than 2,000 feet of frontage along Convention Center Way. The elaborate design process included coordination with the building plans for the San Diego Convention Center Hilton Hotel.
