The historic Riviera Hotel was constructed in 1927 and consisted of 47 single apartments, 19 double apartments and 10 hotel rooms. In 2003 renovation were completed over approximately 11 months to produce Staybridge Suites Hotel..
This historical building was renovated into 68 long term stay hotel units. The building interior was gutted out to the structure and all new mechanical and electrical systems were installed. Special elevators were fabricated to fit into the confined spaces and a roof top patio was added for guests to view downtown San Diego. Each unit came complete with a full kitchen and was required to meet the brand standards.
The work consisted of reinstallation of 68 kitchens in the the remodeled suites, new bathrooms, air conditioning, a ground floor food service area for free breakfasts, a business center, fitness room and meeting rooms.
